Hey all, welcome back to Term 3. Hope you managed to get some time to spend with the kids and relax a bit before calving kicks off.
NEW WEBSITE DOWNLOAD - TO RECEIVE NOTIFICATIONS
Thanks to all who have subscribed for notifications on the website messages page. We will no longer be using the other school app going forward.
I have pushed an update that will ask you to enter your name when you subscribe. We still have about 5 devices that messages are not reaching, so by entering your name when you subscribe it will hopefully let us know if the message hasn't been sent to your phone.
Just a note, our website is also an app that you can download an install on your phone. For iphones it is often just a bookmark on your homescreen. This can be a much easier way of accessing information in school.
I do recommend closing out of the app when you are not using it, as updates are installed on the app automatically when you open it up after shutting it down.
SCHOOL ACCOUNTS
School accounts will go out today, and early next week for those who are away. We will be emailing out accounts today. Currently we only have one email on each account.
Please remember that the school camp for Year 8 is coming up quicker than you think. This is the big cost for many parents, and a reminder that you can arrange payments each week to cover this cost. Be aware that if parents neglect payments, it may effect whether the camp continues to go ahead.
Worth nothing that the cost of the camp for parents is subsidised by the PTA and the school by about 40% already, so please make an effort to ensure payments are made before the camp date.
We do need half the amount deposit ($150) by the the end of this term to confirm numbers.
FUNDRAISING FOR CAMP
Just of note, if fundraising for the school camp lowers the price of the camp, it is a bit of a nightmare to refund parents if you have already paid for camp. In those instances, we will credit your school account if you have overpaid for camp. Once we adjust totals for any fundraising, we will recalculate the cost and send out accounts to Year 8 parents with adjusted amounts.
POLICE VISIT NEXT WEEK
If you see a police car at school next Wednesday, do not be concerned!!! We are hosting the Awatuna Playcentre and we will be having a meet and greet with the local police. Hopefully they let me go for a few laps THIS time...
TARANAKI TROPHY
Unfortunately we do not have enough players for a rugby team for the Taranaki Trophy this year. We have started to do trials for netball, and we will run trials for football after the netball team has been sorted.
LANGTON CUP BASKET BALL
Well done to everyone that participated in Langton cup 2026! We had three under 14 boys that participated in this tournament (Bede from team Tuatara, and Koby and Jax from team Mango), two under 12 girls (Ginny and Mattie), and seven under 14 girls (Mila, Tylah, Stevie, and Libby from the Pouakai team, and Bettina, Claire, and Ruby from the Kahu team). Team Pouakai made it to the finals, as well as the under 12 girls team, both placing 2nd. Team Tuatara came 9th, team Mango came 10th, and team Kahu 5th. Ka pai to everyone!
